The HVAC training class also covers basic industry math, technical terminology, thermodynamics and basic gas laws as they are applicable to the trade.
  • Electrical Theory and Application
    Covering the fundamentals of electrical theory, including basic principles such as Ohm’s law, electrical characteristics, and electron flow, this course stresses basic wiring techniques, schematic reading, motor controls, common loads used in the industry, and electrical troubleshooting using an electric meter.
  • Refrigeration Theory and Application
    This HVAC training class covers the physical laws of thermodynamics, pressure and temperature relationships, and the refrigeration cycle, as well as the main refrigeration components. Students learn basic piping techniques (brazing, soldering, swaging, and flaring), electrical practices, and sheet metal installation techniques. The course is designed to prepare students for the Federal EPA Section 608 certification exam.
  • Heating Systems
    With a focus on residential and light commercial heating systems, topics of this HVAC training class includes natural gas furnaces, oil furnaces, electric resistance heating, gas-fired hydronic systems and heat pumps. Students learn about different types of ignition systems, gas valves, system components and sequence of operations for the various systems.   • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Systems

Pressure and temperature relationships and refrigerant handling will be discussed.   • Air Flow and Distribution
    Covering the principles of air flow and distribution to emphasize the importance of airflow in HVAC/R applications, the emphasis of this class is on fans, fan laws, and air flow measurements.
  • Skills Review and EPA Certification
    Training includes hands-on skills review in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting as well as proper procedural practices. This course includes preparation and testing on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 exam as required for refrigerant handling.
