What is a Pharmaceutical Technician?
Pharmacy Technicians prepare medications under the direction of a licensed pharmacist. Job duties include measuring, mixing, counting, labeling, and recording amounts of medication dosages. They receive prescriptions, refill requests, verify information is complete and accurate, and answer questions or requests when appropriate. Pharmacy Technicians perform precise work where details can be a matter of life or death. Achieving accuracy even in stressful or emergency situations is critical.
Now is a great time to start your training! According to the National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA), annual pharmacy technician job openings exceed 39,000 and current job growth is 28.8 percent*.
