Health Information Technologist duties can include:

Using computers to run spreadsheets, word processing, accounting software programs, and administrative duties
Working with patients on the phone and in person
Dictation, working with the patient record, billing, insurance, and coding
Understanding and working with medical terminology, pathophysiology and anatomy and physiology

Essential personal qualities for this field are:

Visual acuity and manual dexterity
Communication and reading comprehension skills
Attention to detail and the ability for calm and reasoned judgments
Must also be flexible, demonstrate ethical, moral principles
Maintain confidentiality of patient information, and an understanding of government regulations
