Pharmaceutical Technician

Pharmacy technicians help make others’ lives easier by running pharmacies effectively and efficiently. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, pharmacy technician job openings are expected to grow by 9 percent between 2014 and 2024. After completing your Pharmacy Technician college diploma, you’ll have the knowledge and skills needed to excel in this high-demand field.

At CCNN, you’ll learn the primary functions of a successful pharmacy technician, which include:

  • Measuring, counting and calculating medication dosages;
  • Receiving and generating labels of prescription medications;
  • Processing refill requests;
  • Verifying patient information is complete and accurate; and
  • Compounding hospital medications, topical medications and veterinarian medications

Within the program, you’ll take 15.5 weeks of Pharmaceutical Technician coursework, including:

  • Fundamentals of Pharmacy Practice
  • Anatomy – Nervous, Muscular & Skeletal Systems
  • Retail Pharmacy
  • Clinical Setting Pharmacy

Additionally, you will benefit from real-world work experience by completing a Pharmacy Technician externship.

Upon completion of the Pharmaceutical Technician program, you’ll be eligible to sit for the national PTCB certification examination.
